Malcolm Margolin headed Heyday Books from 1974 to 2015, and Jackie Pels has run Hardscratch Press since 1990. Join us on Sunday, June 17 (our usual Work-in-Progress time slot, the 3rd Sunday) at the Berkeley Central Public Library, 2:00 pm, for a chat about book publishing. They’ll talk about their experiences in publishing here in the Bay Area, the changes they’ve seen, what makes for a “successful” book, and advice for authors in today’s environment of publishing and self-publishing. We may also learn about Malcolm’s new venture, the California Institute for Community, Art and Nature.
The library is at 2090 Kittredge St. at Shattuck, two blocks south of the Berkeley BART station. We will be in the Community Meeting Room on the third floor.
Prospective members of the Institute for Historical Study are welcome to attend. So we know how many people to plan for, rsvp to wip@tihs.org.
