Friday, September 28 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm: South Asians in the South Bay: The Privileged Immigrants – with Jeevan Zutshi
Offered in partnership with the Indo-American Community Federation and the Mechanics’ Institute, IACF founder Jeevan Zutshi will talk about the South Asian community that has developed in Fremont, San Jose, Palo Alto, and other South Bay towns over the past 30 thirty years. He will describe the history of South Asian immigration and illustrate the community that has since developed, with specific socio-cultural needs that led him to form the Indo-American Community Federation. This group, celebrating its 25th anniversary, has cooperated with a number of groups and city organizations to participate in civic improvements and general American life.
